The V Foundation started with the dream of Jim Valvano, the passionate and committed former NC State basketball coach and award-winning broadcaster, as he battled cancer. Wanting to see the battle through to victory, Valvano recruited friends and family to lead The V Foundation in his quest to eradicate the disease that ultimately claimed his life. With a dire need for early developmental, critical-stage grant support, the Foundation was formed to assist the brilliant young researchers that will eventually find cures for cancer.

Anna turned professional at the end of 2004, played a full season on the Future Tour and missed the cut at the 2004 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. She finished third at the Ladies European Tour 2005 qualifying tournament and was a season 2006 LET rookie. On December 5, 2007, Anna was invited to join the LPGA tour. In 2008 she qualified for a full time tour card via Q school for the 2009 tour.

John Daly established the John Daly Charitable Foundation in the fall of 2004. The organization is to be devoted in whole or in part to providing relief to the poor, distressed or underprivileged due to poor health or advanced years, with a special emphasis for the needs of young children and orphans.

World-renowned saxophonist Branford Marsalis and a New Orleans native, was born into one of the city's most distinguished musical families. Over the years, Branford has performed and recorded with a who's-who of jazz giants including Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins.

Besides for his great talent on stage, Branford has also given his name and efforts to rebuilding his home town following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. He is the honorary chair of the New Orleans Habitat for Humanity effort to rebuild the city, and together with his friend Harry Connick, Jr. conceived the Habitat Musicians' Village currently under construction in the city's historic Ninth Ward.

The Lou Brock Scholarship Foundation provides annual scholarships totaling over $20,000 ranging from $275 to $9,000 to college-bound, needy high school students with at least a C+ grade point average. Since 1983 the foundation has provided nearly $300,000 in financial support to more than 200 needy students who live in St. Louis Metro area and in Lou Brocks hometown area of Morehouse Parish in Northeast Louisiana who attend Delta High School and Bastrop High School.
